Mayor Michelle Harris
Mayor
Michelle is a 30-year resident of Clayton and began serving as Mayor in April 2019 following 11 years of service as an Alderman. Her professional background is in the business world with 18 years of Nestle and DuPont, as well as 10 years with her own consulting firm. Michelle has always been involved in community efforts, and is currently a board member of the Metropolitan Zoological Park & Museum District (or ZMD) and the St. Louis County Municipal League, as well as having been on the founding boards of the Shakespeare Festival and the Clayton Century Foundation. She has, of course, served on many boards and commissions within our city. Michelle is passionate about Clayton and the region as a whole.
Jenny Abeles
Community Advisor
Jenny Abeles has lived in Clayton along with her husband and their two children for more than 10 years. Jenny is a graduate of Drake University and previously was a television producer for Anheuser-Busch. Currently, Jenny volunteers for the Clayton PTO Council, Congregation Temple Israel, U. City Swim Club, and the City of Clayton. She loves working with others, traveling and spending time with her family. You can reach Jenny at jzabeles@gmail.com.
Darcy Cearley
Faculty Advisor
Darcy Cearley is an educator with nearly 30 years of experience, the past 9 as an English teacher at Clayton High School. When she’s not engaging students in discussions about literature and writing, Darcy enjoys basking in sunshine (especially near a pool or in a hammock), visiting the family farm, and spending time with her son, who is a recent graduate of Arizona State University. Darcy has worked with MYAC since 2023 and thinks the program is critical for fostering civic awareness and action in local high school students. You can reach Darcy at darcycearley@claytonschools.net
